Oh my... Friday the 13th :-D We left at 12:30 am (GA Time... 9:30 PT). Travel went okay today despite the date.. except that we were only able to get a campground for one night. We are at Beverly Beach State Park near Newport Oregon. They are packed for the weekend. We arrived at 2:16 (GA Time.. 11:16 PT). A few spots of constructions again.

After setting up we ate dinner and went sight-seeing. We visited the visitor's center at Yaquina Head Lighthouse. We didn't go inside the lighthouse... a very long line to get in. We took a few pictures from an overlook below the lighthouse. It was very overcast, so not the best light for pictures. There were comorants, seagulls and murees on the rocks below in the ocean along with harbor seals.

We climbed down a gazillion steps to the beach area. The beach is covered with large cobblestones... basically round lava rocks. We stumbled across them to the tidal pools. The tidal pools were very interesting with sea urchins, anemones, starfish, mussels and periwinkle snails... and a few things I don't know what are :-)

We stumbled across the cobblestones to another area to get a better view of the harbor seals and brown pelicans. Some of the harbor seals are so large you wonder how they are able to move.

Then we stumbled back across some smaller cobblestones and up the gazillion steps to the parking lot.

Next stop was the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. We looked at it from the parking lot. Too tired to climb up a hill. The visitor's center told the story of both lighthouses. They pretty much all look alike when going up to the top where the fresnel lenses are housed.

Back home and showers in the trailer. I copied a bunch of pictures to a dvd and Frank has read a little, but it is hard to concentrate when there is a pit bull next door that keeps barking... a small child left unattended in the street riding his bike while his grandparents are trying to figure out how to set up a tent (they are reading the directions, so it must be a new tent) and lots of cars driving on the road. The little boy stopped riding his bike and visited his neighbors and is eating marshmallows with them. The granddad finally notices where he is :-)

After watching a bunch of things going on around us Frank says this is a redneck trailer park and it ain't even the southern part of Oregon :-D

We traveled 49.1 miles today plus sight-seeing.
